Outside the Lines is all about the push and pull between structure and spontaneity. Between order and the undeniable urge to break free. The straight, rigid lines feel like society’s expectations, cultural influences, or even the artist’s own rulebook, attempting to keep her free-spirited nature in check.

But creativity, much like the artist herself, refuses to stay confined. While much of Mekhail’s work in this collection embraces fluid, winding movement, this piece leans into the tension between discipline and unpredictability. The clean, structured lines try to contain the bursts of color and motion, but eventually, they spill out. Because that’s what happens when something can’t be held in any longer.

The interplay of acrylic paint, spray paint, sand texture, and metal punctuations gives the surface a restless energy, proving that even within boundaries, disruption finds its way in.

And maybe that’s not a bad thing, maybe that’s where the real artistry happens.
