Free a Girl

This piece is my modern take on ancient Egyptian Queen Nefertiti, depicting her power and strength in a new and re-imagined way.

Much like Nefertiti was an agent of change in Egyptian culture, Free A  Girl’s survivors are an agent of change in their communities, by citing to end the sexual exploitation of young children.

Free a Girl is an international organization that rescues young girls from sex trafficking and sexual exploitation.  They have rescued more than 6,500 survivors worldwide to date.

They not only rescue these young girls, they help survivors achieve justice by tracking down their perpetrators and tackling impunity.  Once they have healed, Free A Girl empowers the girls to become awareness-raising agents of change in their communities. Their “School for Justice” program trains survivors to become the best lawyers, paralegals, police officers, social workers, and journalists to change the system from within.
